The Story
I've experienced a full, challenging, and exciting career within the field of education as a certified school psychologist for 25+ years. This career provided me with opportunities to speak on topics within the realm of learning, Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disabilities, behavioral intervention and management, and various evidenced-based practices. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Psychology, and a Specialist Degree in School Psychology, I've worked in public education and higher education settings. Additionally, I am a Board Certified Life Coach and am continually seeking to gain more knowledge so that I may assist others on their path to personal and professional growth. I am also a Certified Purpose Clarity Coach for those individual wanting to gain clarity regarding their purpose in life, both personally and professionally.
I wholeheartedly stepped out of my comfort zone and retired in December 2016 from an enriching, comfortable, and dependable career and allowed myself to be thrust into the “great unknown” area of speaking, writing, and coaching. I made this choice just six short weeks after her beautiful, independent, first-born daughter moved into Eternity from complications of severe septic shock. Faced with the realization that life is too short to wait on the “perfect time” to live out your best life, I stepped out on faith and am determined to live life as I believe I was created to live, as an encourager, speaker, writer, and coach. Speaking has evolved from the educational realm into a more inspirational, motivational, and spiritual realm.
As part of my healing process, it became increasingly evident that people were in "need" of Savannah's story. I discovered in January 2017, just two months after Savanah's untimely move into Eternity, that Savannah's story was begging to be told. What started out as the "Thank You Tour" for a grieving mother to look people in the eye and thank them for praying and partnering with them through Savannah's illness has turned into much more than that. I realized that I was receiving a healing salve each time I mentioned my daughter's name, "Savannah". Furthermore, as I looked out over a crowd and "felt the love" from the sea of empathetic souls my heart began to ache a little less.
Savannah is, and will always be, a picture-perfect representation of beauty, honor, grace, and peace during her short life of 21 years and, especially during the last 10 ½ months of her journey being critically ill in the hospital. I am, as her mother, honored beyond words to be chosen as the mother of my two daughters. Savannah's story of her resiliency and faith, the love of the God's people, and my personal journey towards growth through tragedy, quite frankly, must be told to whomever will listen, thus, I am ready and willing to speak anyone and everyone.
Since January 2017, I have had the distinct honor and privilege of speaking to various groups of all age ranges, socio-economic statuses, and interests. I've spoken in churches, businesses, community centers, and a prison and enjoyed speaking to men's groups, women's groups, students, school employees, businesses, and organizations.
